NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting: Blended Course
3 Payments of $94.99

Note : This course replaces the NRA Basic Pistol Safety course.

    The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online-in your own timeframe) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor.

    The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.

Phase 1:  Online Training

    The first part of the course includes 11 lessons and takes approximately 8 hours to complete. An easy-to-understand online training program which allows you to go at your own pace and learn from the comfort of your own home.

    Simply go through the online course material, successfully complete the online exam, and you’ll receive your certificate of completion instantly.

What you'll learn:

  • Essential gun safety rules
  • Different types of pistols and which one is best for you
  • The basics of ammunition
  • The fundamentals of pistol shooting
  • Different shooting positions
  • The most common shooting errors
  • Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
  • How to maintain your skills

Phase 2:  Hands on with Instructor

During the instructor-led-training portion of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification.

Phase I - Technical Info

After you register you'll receive your Course Code(s) in the confirmation e-mail alone with the details.  Which will allow you to start the eLearning training portion!  When you enroll in the online course, you create a personal identification number (PIN)

Step 2: Phase II - Technical Info

When you successfully complete the Phrase I part of the course, printing your certificate activates that PIN.   The activated PIN allows you to register and participate for the instructor-led training portion of the course.

Students are recommended to bring:

  • Handgun and 50 rounds of Ammunition,
    (Hearing & Eye protection are provided if Students doesn't have any)

If a student doesn't own a handgun, one can be provided.  Students are responsible for their own ammo, rental guns and target costs.  Eyes & ears provided by range if student(s) doesn't have any.    Student may purchase ammunition from the Range.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation - No Classes Scheduled

Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training  is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.

Class size limited to 2 people.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

NRA Home Firearms Safety Course - No Classes Scheduled
Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.  

Class size limited to 2 people.

This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports.

Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.
